Abu Sai’d Al Khudri (R.A.A.) reported that Somebody asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! Who is the best among the people? Allah’s Messenger (pubh) replied, “A believer who strives his utmost in Allah’s cause with his life and property.” (Bukhari)

Jihad is permanent and continuous process

Dear readers, Jihad is an Arabic word which means to try utmost. It is a permanent and continuous process. In its first phase, a Muslim learns to control his own bad desires and intentions. We need to strive hard to achieves this . the duty of a Mujahid is to establish right thins (Marud) and remove evil thins (Munkar) from the society. It demands the use of all our material and mental resources.

Fight in the cause of Allah

Allah said in the gracious Quran: Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghut (Shaitan). So fight you against the friends of Shaitan. Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitan. (Nisa: 76) if declares that we are real servant of Almighty then we have to participate in Jihad.

The most desirable aim and objective of a Muslim

We should use all that we have in the cause of Allah. If we can do this, then we will be able to seek His mercy as well as His pleasure and eventually attain paradise. Allah declared that He will forgive the sins of the people who are fighting in His way. Therefore, without any question the most desirable aim and objective of a Muslim should be to fight in His way. Finally, we like to see truth prevail and untruth vanish. May Allah give us ability to fight for Allah’s cause.

Indeed! In the creation of the heavens and the earth, and in the alteration of night and day, there are indeed signs for men of understanding. (Al Imran: 190)

Allah did not create anything aimlessly

Dear readers, among the things we see around us, everywhere there are signs of Allah, and everything of this universe providing proof of Allah’s Oneness. If we think deeply, we will see that Allah did not create anything without any target and aimlessly, as Allah says in the Quran: Those who remember Allah standing, sitting, and lying down on their sides and think deeply about the creation of the heavens and the earth, (saying): “Our Lord! You have not created all this without purpose, glory to You! (Exalted are You above all that they associate with you as partners.) Protect us from the punishment of the Fire. (Al Imran: 191) Allah, the almighty also tells us, “and on the earth are signs for those who have Faith with certainty. And also in your own selves, will you no then see?” (Adh DHariyat: 20-21)

Think about some organs of your body

Well, let us think about our two eyes, one tongue and two lips. Is there anyone in this world who can speak freely using one lip? No it is quite impossible. Now think deeply what Allah says in the Quran: Have We not made for him two eyes? And a tongue and two lips? And sown him the two eyes? (Al Balad:8-10) In the verse, the two ways mean the way of good and evil, the way of Paradise as well the way of Hell.

The uprising after death

Dear readers, sometimes doubt might strike us that how will we be brought to life after death? So there is a best example in the following verse to understand it. Allah says in the Quran: And is a sigh for them is the dead earth. We have brought in to life and brought forth it grain, and from it, they eat. (Yasin: 33)

We see the land lies dry and dead, and then Allah quickens it so it begins to bloom in no time. So many kinds of fruits and grain grow in gardens and fields and we are the people who utilize them all. However, the dead land is a sign for us. If we think deeply and observe it, we can easily understand the Uprising after death. Therefore, it is clear that Allah will be able to resurrect us on the Day of Judgment.

In the sayings of Prophet (PBUH) we get the indication that rights to Al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslim are enshrined. As in a hadith narrated by Maymunah ibn Sa’d said: Apostle of Allah, tell us the legal injunction about (visiting) Bayt al-Muqaddas (the dome of the Rock at Jerusalem). The Apostle of Allah (PBUH) said: go and pray there. All the cities at that time were affected by war. If you cannot visit it and pray there, then send some oil to be used in the lamps. In another hadith narrated Abdur Rahman Ibn Awf the Prophet (PBUH) said: By Him Who sent Muhammad with truth, if you prayed here, this would be sufficient for you like the prayer in Jerusalem. In another hadith narrated by Mu’adh Ibn Jabal the Prophet (PBUH) said: The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet) struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:

A man stood on the day of Conquest (of Mecca) and said: Apostle of Allah, I have vowed to Allah that if He grants conquest of Mecca at your hands, I shall pray two rak’ahs in Jerusalem.

He replied: Pray here.

He repeated (his statement) to him and he said: Pray here.

He again repeated (his statement) to him.

He (the Prophet) replied: Pursue your own course, then.

Abu Huraira narrated that Prophet (PBUH) said, “Do not set out on a journey except for three Mosques i.e. Al-Masjid-AI-Haram, the Mosque of Allah’s Apostle , and the Mosque of Al-Aqsa, (Mosque of Jerusalem).”

The aforesaid sayings of Prophet (SM) detail the rights of Muslims on the Mosque of Jerusalem which Israel has kept besieged for long 63 years, hurting not only the pious Palestinians but also the Muslims of the Diaspora.

Subhanallaji asra biabdihi laylamminaal masjidil haram ilaal masjidil aqsallaji barakna haolah

“Glory to He (God) Who did take His servant for a Journey by night from the Sacred Mosque to the farthest Mosque, whose precincts We did bless”.
— [Qur'an 17:1]

The Sura Isra opens with the ayat which deals with Prophet (PBUH)’s journey towards Allah subhanuwataala. Muhammad (PBUH) that night started his journey on a steed Buraq in a single night in the year 620AD from masjidil haram and reached masjidil Aqsa. And from then he flied upwards to the seventh sky.

Jerusalem in Islam is considered a sacred city, and has played a significant role in the

faith. The al-Aqsa mosque of Jerusalem is considered the third holiest site in Islam, after the mosques of al-Haram and al-Nabawi. It is strongly associated with people regarded as Prophets of Islam – in particular, David, Solomon, and Jesus. For long 16/17 months it was the first qibla (direction of prayer) in Islam, before the Kaaba in Mecca; Muhammad by Buraq visited Jerusalem, where he prayed, and then heaven.

The Qur’anic verse (17:1) is interpreted by all widely used tafsirs (commentaries) as referring to this journey, with the term “the farthest Mosque” (al-masjid al-Aqsa) referring to the Noble Sanctuary in Jerusalem, where the mosque stands.
Some scholars claim it is holy after the cities of Mecca and Medina, some assert it is a city that contains a holy site, and some conclude it has little or no actual sanctity. In the light of Holy Quran Muslims have the valid rights to say prayers in Al-Aqsa mosque.

Mesbah M Islam (Falil)

Dear Friends, Family, and Fellow members of my Ummah,

I am the son of K D M Minhajul Islam and Munira Khan. I write you today on a very solemn note. Last night, my Dadu, Mrs. Syeda Ayesha Islam, passed away in Dhaka. She was 75 years old. Dadu leaves behind 12 children (9 sons and 3 daughters), dozens of grandchildren, and even some great grandchildren. Beyond just telling you this news, I would also like to tell you a little bit about her.

My Dadu was a woman who had nothing and gave everything. She was small and frail in size and stature, weighing only about 95 lbs and standing at just shy of 5 feet, but what Allah did not give her in physical strength was more than compensated for in her emotional strength.

Considering all the trials and tribulations that this amazing woman went through in her life, it was amazing that she didn’t spend the majority of her later years in tears. Instead, she stood as the rock that held my family together. Dadu was born and raised, impoverished, in the graam (village) in Bangladesh but served as the catalyst for being the woman that got to see seven of twelve children become wealthy and successful in the industrialized world overseas. It takes a unique kind of woman, with the heart of a lion and courage that cannot be matched to go from the former stage, to the latter. Dadu had her first child at a time when the average girl of that age would have more than likely been in her early years of high school, giving up whatever amusement that comes with youth, to skyrocket into womanhood and raise a family. Often, my Dada Bhai would go off to Pakistan to do business for a long stretch of time. So, here was this young woman, who already had several children over the years, left to care for, feed, and nurture all of them on her own.
One’s mother is always the person they turn to when facing trouble and fear out in the real world. On top of having troubles of her own to deal with, Dadu felt the pains and sorrows of each and every one of her children when they came to speak to her of all the happenings in their lives. Sometimes, I’m left to wonder how much of a great disparity there must have been between the times that Dadu smiled, or laughed, and the times when she felt anguish. She was far from being blessed with all the bounties that we are all given in modern times and with our modern wealth. She did not even get the opportunity to receive much of a formal education, yet the kind of intellect, character, personality, and demeanor with which this wonderful individual conducted herself can never be found in most others.

When she was at Overland Park Regional Hospital here in Kansas earlier this year, Sarju [Munzer M Islam (Sharzil), my younger brother aged 18 and also a student at the same university] and I both discussed the kind of strength it surely must have taken for a woman in the condition that Dadu was in to come back to relatively good health. We were both then convinced that she would outlive most of the members in our family and surely live to be in her late 90s, if not longer. Sadly, we were mistaken.

At the end of the day, life will go on and time will continue to pass day by day. Many of you did not know, or even get a chance to meet my Dadu, but we must all remember that even though life will go on, we will all one day be in the same place that Dadu is in right now. So to conclude, all I ask of all of you is to do what you would want all of your loved ones to do when this day comes for you, to keep this person in your prayers and to think of the fact that this day is in store for all of us before making our choices. We all realize what we should have done more or better with our loved ones after they pass; such is the nature of life. Once it has happened, all we can do is remember the best of times. I hope the very best for you all.

Sincerely,

Falil (19 Jun 2011)
Mesbah M Islam (Falil); Age- 22 years. He is born and brought up in USA, and is currently an undergraduate student at University of Kansa

Do your work regularly and get up early in the morning

Hazrat Masruq (RAA) said: I asked Aisha (RAA) which action was most loved by Allah’s messenger? She replied: The one regularly done. I said: When did he get up night? She replied: He got up at cockcrow. (Bukhari, Muslim).

The importance of regular activities:

Dear reader from the first part of the Hadith we see, regularly done activities are most preferred by Allah’s messenger (pbuh) even if they are small. Its true that one can’t expertise over anything overnight. Regular and continuous activities on particular affair help a man to gather experience and knowledge. He gets enough time to think and ponder on it for the development. Allah bestows His mercy on him or her who follows this tradition and custom. There is a proverb that Rome was not built in a day.

The importance of early to rise and early to bed:

Our dearest Prophet (pbuh) was used to get up from bed early in the morning. So, leaving bed early in the morning is most important for the Muslims. After leaving bed early in the morning it is compulsory for all adult Muslims to perform Salah. Through Salah a Muslim becomes very closer to almighty Allah. This is a very good practice done by the most obedient servant and soldiers of Allah. The one who does not perform the dawn prayer becomes weak in morally. We know that early to rise and early to bed makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. In another Hadith Aisha (RAA) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) used to sleep during the earlier part of the night and stood praying during the latter part. (Bukhari, Muslim). Therefore, waking up at night and rising in the early morning is a key of success for us and give us chance to enrich our spiritual side.

May Allah keep us on the right path

O, Our Lord! Guide us on the straight path. (Surah No. 01, al-Fateha, Verse No. 05)

Before asking any help follow the instructions:

Dear readers, we undoubtedly believe in only One and the only One God, the Creator and Owner of everything, He is most Merciful and most Kind, He is the Lord of the Day of Judgement, therefore, we praise Him alone, and we ask for His guidance and help to show us the right path. But, before that, we must ensure that we are following the instructions and teachings already available. If we don’t follow Allah’s instructions He will not accept our prayers.

Results of prayers depend on follow up of guidelines

Firstly we have to practice what we are told and then we have to ask for guidance and help if we encounter any difficulty. We Muslims in practice do not follow the teachings of the Qur’an and just do the lip service and ask Allah for help and guidance without any intention of following those guidelines prescribed for us, and then we think about the results of our prayers and as kings.

When Allah gives answer of our prayers:

The Qur’an has clearly indicated that first follow the instructions and teachings and then ask for guidance, for sure Allah will answer all our prayers. The first prayer that has been taught in the Qur’an is that may Allah help us keep on the right path. This Qur’an that we are studying is the prescription of the right path. By applying the teachings of the Qur’an we can easily reach our goal and destination. We will get an honorable life both in this life and hereafter.

What is al-Qur’an?
Al-Qur’an is the complete book of guidance for mankind. Al-Qur’an is revealed by Allah the al-Mighty for His servants. It is a doubtless and complete book. It is a book of guidance for those conscious of Allah. Al-Qur’an brings mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of Allah. It was sent down to Muhammad (pbuh) through the angel Jibrail. It is the sacred book of the Muslims and the main source of Law in Islam. It is a book of knowledge. It is the only solution for humanity.

Why we have to learn al-Qur’an?
We know that the first word of the Qur’an is (Iqra) as mentioned in surah al-Alaq in verse no. 01. This word was mentioned in the Qur’an three times. Iqra is a very comprehensive word. It instructed Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his followers to read, recite, rehearse, proclaim aloud, write, understand, share and propagate by all possible means. Secondly, Iqra was mentioned in the same surah in verse no. 03 to stress its importance. The Islamic scholars have said it means that, what you have learned earlier that we have to practice and implement as well. Similarly we have to preach the knowledge we achieved among others. Thirdly, Iqra was mentioned in Surah al-Isra in verse no: 17. It means; [It will be said], “Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant.”

Therefore it should be clear to us that in the above verse, Allah the Almighty ordered His each servant individually to read, to learn, to know etc. One Islamic scholar has said: No one can count himself educated unless he has read al-Qur’an, the best gift ever given to mankind. May Allah the Almighty give us ability to read the to know and to follow.

O my Lord! Increase me in knowledge.
Surah : Ta-Ha, Verse : 114

What is knowledge?
Dear brothers and sisters, do we know what knowledge is? Knowledge is the information, understanding and skills that a man gains through education or experience. There are two type of knowledge: the derived knowledge and revealed knowledge. Knowledge is power. Islam is not only a theoretical system of life, but also serves as a practical guidance to the human needs. Islam considers that knowledge is the first step of Imaan. Knowledge is important in order to practice the commandments of Allah in a proper and correct way in our everyday life.

The importance of knowledge:
We know that the first five verses revealed by Allah, gives the importance of acquiring knowledge. Acquiring knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim man and woman. Among all the immeasurable creations of Almighty Allah only human beings have the power of thinking and understanding. Our dearest prophet (pbuh) was sent down by Allah with the mission of teaching the people and purifying them with proper knowledge and wisdom so that they may be able to fulfill the instructions of Allah in proper way in all aspects of their lives. Because, a man without knowledge is like a drinker who does not know whether the drink he is going to consume contains poison or honey.

What is the foundation of every good thing?
Imam Ibnul Qayyum has said: The foundation of every good is knowledge and justice, and the roots of all evil are ignorance and transgression. Another Islamic scholar Imam Ghazali has said: Knowledge exists potentially in the human soul like the seed in the soil; by learning knowledge becomes actual. May Allah the Almighty gives us the ability to acquire proper knowledge for the salvation of this worldly life and for the prosperity in life after death.

O you who believe! Fear Allah and keep your duty on Him. And let every person look what he has sent forth for the morrow, and fear Allah. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what you do. (Surah No. 59, al-Hashr, Verse No.: 18)

The nature of men:

Whenever we are asked to do anything we immediately think: what is the use of doing it and what harm are involved in not doing it? This is the very nature of men. We will not be very eager to avoid which are productive, meaningful and useful in everyday affairs as well as future life. Now if we think about the mentioned verse, we see that Allah the Almighty has told us to be careful before doing anything. Our activities should be meaningful and as per the guidance of Allah subhanahu wa ta’la.

The meaning of “fear of Allah”:

In the verse, “fear of Allah” means the fear offering Him or self-control, guiding ourselves from all sin, wrong and injustice, and the positive of “Taqwa” or “fear of Allah” is here emphasized. It is not merely a feeling or an emotion: it is an act, a doing of things, which become a preparations and provisions for the Hereafter, the next life, which is “to-day”. The repetition emphasizes both side of “Taqwa”, so we have to let our soul fear to do wrong and let it do every act of righteousness; because Allah observes both our inner motives and our acts. Therefore, this is the best time to evaluate our previous life and believe deeply that we all will die one day. Allah has said in the Qur’an: Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. (Surah At-Tur: 21)

Immediate action:

Well, if we think that we could not do so in our previous life, then now we should not waste our time in vain, but we have to seek Allah’s forgiveness as well as His countless mercy. In addition, we have to remember the saying of Allah: Despair not the Mercy of Allah: verily, Allah forgives all sins. Truly He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. ( Az-Zumar: 53) Moreover, we can remember one Hadith narrated by Abu Said Al-Khudri (R.A.A). Allah’s Messenger (pbuh) said, “if a person embraces Islam sincerely, then Allah shall forgive all his past sins, and after that starts the settlement of accounts, the reward of his good deeds will be ten times to seven hundred times for each good and an evil deed will be recorded as it is unless Allah forgives it.” (Sahih Al-Bukhari)

Therefore, it is quite reasonable to take preparation for the eternal and permanent life. May Allah give us the ability to do the things carefully for tomorrow.
