Abu Sai’d Al Khudri (R.A.A.) reported that Somebody asked, “O Allah’s Messenger! Who is the best among the people? Allah’s Messenger (pubh) replied, “A believer who strives his utmost in Allah’s cause with his life and property.” (Bukhari)

Jihad is permanent and continuous process

Dear readers, Jihad is an Arabic word which means to try utmost. It is a permanent and continuous process. In its first phase, a Muslim learns to control his own bad desires and intentions. We need to strive hard to achieves this . the duty of a Mujahid is to establish right thins (Marud) and remove evil thins (Munkar) from the society. It demands the use of all our material and mental resources.

Fight in the cause of Allah

Allah said in the gracious Quran: Those who believe fight in the cause of Allah, and those who disbelieve, fight in the cause of Taghut (Shaitan). So fight you against the friends of Shaitan. Ever feeble indeed is the plot of Shaitan. (Nisa: 76) if declares that we are real servant of Almighty then we have to participate in Jihad.

The most desirable aim and objective of a Muslim

We should use all that we have in the cause of Allah. If we can do this, then we will be able to seek His mercy as well as His pleasure and eventually attain paradise. Allah declared that He will forgive the sins of the people who are fighting in His way. Therefore, without any question the most desirable aim and objective of a Muslim should be to fight in His way. Finally, we like to see truth prevail and untruth vanish. May Allah give us ability to fight for Allah’s cause.

In the sayings of Prophet (PBUH) we get the indication that rights to Al-Aqsa Mosque for Muslim are enshrined. As in a hadith narrated by Maymunah ibn Sa’d said: Apostle of Allah, tell us the legal injunction about (visiting) Bayt al-Muqaddas (the dome of the Rock at Jerusalem). The Apostle of Allah (PBUH) said: go and pray there. All the cities at that time were affected by war. If you cannot visit it and pray there, then send some oil to be used in the lamps. In another hadith narrated Abdur Rahman Ibn Awf the Prophet (PBUH) said: By Him Who sent Muhammad with truth, if you prayed here, this would be sufficient for you like the prayer in Jerusalem. In another hadith narrated by Mu’adh Ibn Jabal the Prophet (PBUH) said: The flourishing state of Jerusalem will be when Yathrib is in ruins, the ruined state of Yathrib will be when the great war comes, the outbreak of the great war will be at the conquest of Constantinople and the conquest of Constantinople when the Dajjal (Antichrist) comes forth. He (the Prophet) struck his thigh or his shoulder with his hand and said: This is as true as you are here or as you are sitting.

Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah:

A man stood on the day of Conquest (of Mecca) and said: Apostle of Allah, I have vowed to Allah that if He grants conquest of Mecca at your hands, I shall pray two rak’ahs in Jerusalem.

He replied: Pray here.

He repeated (his statement) to him and he said: Pray here.

He again repeated (his statement) to him.

He (the Prophet) replied: Pursue your own course, then.

Abu Huraira narrated that Prophet (PBUH) said, “Do not set out on a journey except for three Mosques i.e. Al-Masjid-AI-Haram, the Mosque of Allah’s Apostle , and the Mosque of Al-Aqsa, (Mosque of Jerusalem).”

The aforesaid sayings of Prophet (SM) detail the rights of Muslims on the Mosque of Jerusalem which Israel has kept besieged for long 63 years, hurting not only the pious Palestinians but also the Muslims of the Diaspora.

Do your work regularly and get up early in the morning

Hazrat Masruq (RAA) said: I asked Aisha (RAA) which action was most loved by Allah’s messenger? She replied: The one regularly done. I said: When did he get up night? She replied: He got up at cockcrow. (Bukhari, Muslim).

The importance of regular activities:

Dear reader from the first part of the Hadith we see, regularly done activities are most preferred by Allah’s messenger (pbuh) even if they are small. Its true that one can’t expertise over anything overnight. Regular and continuous activities on particular affair help a man to gather experience and knowledge. He gets enough time to think and ponder on it for the development. Allah bestows His mercy on him or her who follows this tradition and custom. There is a proverb that Rome was not built in a day.

The importance of early to rise and early to bed:

Our dearest Prophet (pbuh) was used to get up from bed early in the morning. So, leaving bed early in the morning is most important for the Muslims. After leaving bed early in the morning it is compulsory for all adult Muslims to perform Salah. Through Salah a Muslim becomes very closer to almighty Allah. This is a very good practice done by the most obedient servant and soldiers of Allah. The one who does not perform the dawn prayer becomes weak in morally. We know that early to rise and early to bed makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. In another Hadith Aisha (RAA) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) used to sleep during the earlier part of the night and stood praying during the latter part. (Bukhari, Muslim). Therefore, waking up at night and rising in the early morning is a key of success for us and give us chance to enrich our spiritual side.

Hazrat Usman (R.A.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: The best of you is he who has learnt the Qur’an and then taught it.

(Bukhari)

Dear readers today we like discuss the importance of learning the glorious Qur’an. Now let us know about al-Qur’an.

What is al-Qur’an?
Al-Qur’an is the complete book of guidance for mankind. Al-Qur’an is revealed by Allah the al-Mighty for His servants. It is a doubtless and complete book. It is a book of guidance for those conscious of Allah. Al-Qur’an brings mankind out of darkness into the light by permission of Allah. It was sent down to Muhammad (pbuh) through the angel Jibrail. It is the sacred book of the Muslims and the main source of Law in Islam. It is a book of knowledge. It is the only solution for humanity.

Why we have to learn al-Qur’an?
We know that the first word of the Qur’an is (Iqra) as mentioned in surah al-Alaq in verse no. 01. This word was mentioned in the Qur’an three times. Iqra is a very comprehensive word. It instructed Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and his followers to read, recite, rehearse, proclaim aloud, write, understand, share and propagate by all possible means. Secondly, Iqra was mentioned in the same surah in verse no. 03 to stress its importance. The Islamic scholars have said it means that, what you have learned earlier that we have to practice and implement as well. Similarly we have to preach the knowledge we achieved among others. Thirdly, Iqra was mentioned in Surah al-Isra in verse no: 17. It means; [It will be said], “Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant.”

Therefore it should be clear to us that in the above verse, Allah the Almighty ordered His each servant individually to read, to learn, to know etc. One Islamic scholar has said: No one can count himself educated unless he has read al-Qur’an, the best gift ever given to mankind. May Allah the Almighty give us ability to read the to know and to follow.

Abdullah bin Amr (RAA) reported that the Messenger of Allah said: A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hands other Muslims are safe, and a believer is one whom mankind have any protection for their lives and their properties (Sahih Al-Bukhari & Musim)

Do not misuse your hands and tongue:

Our tongues and hands are among special blessings from the Almighty. Hands and tongue has been specially mentioned because much distress is caused to others by means of two organs. We have to remember that it is unworthy of a Muslim to be a source of pain and discomfort to anyone. Rather, s/he should be brotherly, friendly and inoffensive as well as harmless towards everybody.

Others have to be safe from a Muslim’s tongue and hands:

When one consciously declares one’s faith in Allah and acts upon it, only then s/he can be a Muslim. To be a good Muslim, one has to lead a life of peace, progress and prosperity. So, others have to be safe from a Muslim’s tongue and hands. In another Hadith related by Abdullah bin Masud that the Prophet (S.A.W) said: A true believer never indulges in taunting and cursing. The Holy Prophet also said: Allah is gentle, likes gentleness and gives for gentleness what He does not give for harshness.

It should be clear to us that here tongue means how we talk and hands mean how we use our power of control, influence, authority, assistance and aid etc. So we should be cautious as to how we are using them. If we do not use them according to Allah’s wish, we have to face the consequences on the Day of Judgement.

Therefore, we pray to Almighty Allah to help us to use our tongue and hands the way He wants so that we achieve His pleasure on the Day of that matter most.

Tongue will be sealed up:

On the Day of Judgment Allah will seal up our tongues. So we will not be allowed to speak using our tongues. According to Allah’s command our hands will speak on that Day. So, if we use our tongues correctly and properly then our hands will speak in favor of us, and if we use our tongues roughly then of course our hands will speak against us in the court of Allah.

(Muslim).

Do not compromise with wrong:

The vital part of our daily life is to make sure that we will not compromise with what is wrong. If our friends start drinking alcohol or watching bad television shows, should we join him or her? You would say no, because it is wrong and prohibited by Almighty Allah. However, should we just let them do the wrong things and say nothing? What kinds of Muslims are we if we stand by while wrong is happening? No, we will not watch the evil things happen by standing but we will try to eradicate them from the society, because Allah says in the Qur’an: You are the best community brought out of humanity. You encourage what is right and forbid what is wrong and you believe in Allah. (Surah Al-Imran: 110)

The meaning of Maroof and Munkar:

In Arabic, the right or wrong is called Maroof, and the bad ways are called Munkar. The function of this great Ummah is to bid to good deeds as Salah, Sawm, Hajj, Zakah, etc. and forbid bad things as Kufr, Polytheism, Immoralities and Absurdities.

We will never have a perfect world. This life is not the place for perfection. On the other hand, we can employ our hands, words and feelings towards making it a better place than how we found it. This is the purpose of encouraging right and forbidding the wrong.

Abu Malik Al-Ashari reported Allah’s Messenger (S.A.W) said: Cleanliness is half of faith. We may learn from this Hadith that faith covers two aspects: (a) Purification of one’s soul of evil thoughts and ideas and banishing from it the love of all false deities. (b) Entertaining in one’s heart the love of Allah alone. Cleanliness is said to be half of faith because unless the work of purification of heart is not complete one cannot have full devotion to Allah. Thus half of faith is purification of the soul and half is devotion to Allah to the exclusion of devotion to any other godhood.

Al- Qur’an is proof on your belief or against you:
The Holy Qur’an is a proof on your behalf or against you’ means that your final fate would be determined by your attitude and dealings towards the Qur’an. If you act according to the teaching and guidelines embodied in the Qur’an with sincerity and devotion you would gain salvation but if you act contrary to them you will suffer disgrace and humiliation at the hand of Allah.
Life is a sort of trade in the sense that we barter our physical strength, our inborn and acquired qualities for certain desires and needs. If these desires or needs are moral and inspired by a spirit of piety and God-consciousness then we are doing profitable business, which would ensure salvation in the Hereafter.
May Allah give us ability to act according to the instruction and teaching embodied in the Qur’an with sincerity and earnestly.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari)

The significance of fasting:
Fasting in which the sprit of fasting is not observed is only an exercise in starvation but not really a fasting at all. This is what the Prophet (pbuh) mentioned in the above Hadith. Allah does not intend to keep our stomachs empty for a certain number of hours, as the Prophet (S.A.W) said: “How many people observe fasting but gain nothing thereby except undergo hunger and thirst, and how many people spend nights standing in prayers, and yet all they is just the deprivation from rest.”
Why Allah attributes fasting to Himself?

Abu Huraiara (R.A.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: Every good deed of a man is granted manifold increase, ten to seven hundred times. The Almighty Allah said: Fasting is an exception; it is exclusively for Me, and I reward for it as much as I wish (Bukhari&Muslim)
We know that fasting is one of the greatest means to attain Taqwa, which will certainly bring about happiness for the servant in his worldly life and his Hereafter. The fasting person seeks closeness to Allah by restraining his desires-giving precedence to the love of Allah over the love of himself. Secondly, it is clear to us that All though all practices of worshipping are for Allah, here Allah singles out Sawm because Sawm cannot be practice for the sake of showing off as nobody can know whether one is observing Sawm or not, except Allah. Therefore, Sawm is pure performance that cannot be blemished with hypocrisy. For the above reasons, Allah attributes fasting to Himself.

The True Fasting:
Abu Huraiarah (RA.A) reported that the Prophet (pbuh) said: If one does not give up speaking falsehood and acting by it, Allah does not require him to give up eating and drinking (Bukhari).

Abdullah bin Amr (R.A.A) reported: The Prophet sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, ” A Muslim is the one who avoids harming Muslims with his tongue and hands. (Sahih Al-Bukhari)
Power of speech is a wonderful thing:
If we think deeply, we can realize that it is astonishing as well as wonderful to be able to speak. Prophet (PBUH) said: “Allah’s great and countless mercy is that He has given countless things to live and survive in this temporary world. Tongue is one of them.” it would have been impossible to express our opinions to the others without the tongue. Allah said: Have We not made for him a pair of eyes, and a tongue and a pair of lips? And showed him the two ways (good and evil)? (Al-Balad: 8-10) We are spending a lot of time talking to others. We should be carefule because making mistakes is not bad but it is bad to hide those telling lies.
Do not drop a bad smell in the air:
When a man tells a lie, he drops out a very bad smell in the air. This is a very bad habit to tell lies to make people laugh. Allah’s messenger (pbuh) said: “Woe to him who tells lies to make people laugh-woe to him, woe to him!” (Ahmad & Tirmidhi) A man slips more by his tongue than foot. One day a person asked the Prophet to point our one thing that he must do at all times, and the Prophet (pbuh) said to him: “Do not tell a lie.” Moreover Allah has appointed angels to record our speeches as He announced in the Qur’an: “not a word does he (or she) uttered but there is a watcher by him ready to (to record it).” (Al-Balad:18)
Guard your tongue:
Allah has taught us eloquent speech. So, as good and sincere Muslims we should use our tongue in proper way. Abu Musa (R.A.A) reported, some people asked Allah’s Messenger, “Whose Islam is best? (i.e. Who is a very good Muslim?)” He replied, “One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands.” (Bukhari) We must realize how bad it is to tell lie. Allah the Almighty does not like the liars. As Muslims, we are asked not to hurt people’s feeling telling lie. Our Prophet (pbuh) said: “Truth is good. Good deeds lead to paradise. Falsehood is wickedness. Wickedness leads to hell.”
May Allah give us ability to guard our tongue so that we don’t harm anybody.
